Brandon's Book Review
Hi, I’m Brandon and I read a book called Lions at Lunchtime by Mary Pope Osborne. It’s one of the Magic Tree House books and they’re my favorite series.
In the beginning Jack and Annie came home from the store with peanut butter and bread for lunch. However, they see a Thomson’s gazelle, which leads them into the Frog Creek woods. Then suddenly they see the Magic Tree House and Morgan Le Fay, a magical librarian, appears out of nowhere and gives them a scroll with a riddle to solve which is…
I’m the color of gold and as sweet as can be.
But beware of the danger that’s all around me. What am I?
and a book about Africa. Jack puts the book in his pack with the peanut butter and bread and the 2 set off for an exciting adventure to Africa. Jack and Annie see lots of animals grazing on the plains zebras, wildebeests and gazelles but there are no lions to be found. Annie tries to save the wildebeests cross the Mara River and she slips into a mud hole. They meet a Massai warrier and a honey guide that leads them to a beehive and the answer to the riddle – or is it? As Jack and Annie return to the magic tree house they encounter a pride of lions – Do Jack and Annie make it home for lunch or do they become lunch for the lions? Read Lions at Lunchtime by Mary Pope Osborne at your local library.
