The meeting was called to order by President Mitchell Wilber at 6:51 p.m. at the conclusion of the annual organizational meeting.

 

Moved by Mr. Weiskittel, seconded by Mr. Scherer that the Board go into executive session at 6:51 p.m. to discuss litigation and personnel issues.

               President Wilber declared the Board out of executive session at 7:45 p.m.

 

          President Wilber asked if anyone from the audience wished to address the Board at this time.  No one came forward and the public participation was closed at 7:46 p.m.

          Moved by Mr. Amberg, seconded by Dr. Tepfer that the Professional Development Plan revisions for 2007-2008 be approved.

 

          That the Annual Professional Performance Review revisions for 2007-2008 be approved.

 

          That the Curriculum and Instruction Procedural Manual for 2007-2008 be approved.

 

That the adoption of the following textbooks be approved:

That the Article XII, curriculum project proposals for the 2007-2008 school year be approved. Dr. Darnall will provide the Board with the Article XII proposals.

 

          Moved by Dr. Tepfer, seconded by Mr. Weiskittel that the contract agreement between Geneva City School District and Daniel Howard, Trainer/Consultant, to provide crisis team training, handling the disruptive child in the classroom and functional behavior assessments, in response to Focused Group Review findings, effective May 1, 2007 through July 1, 2008, at a cost of $32.50 per hour, $500 per ˝ day presentations, maximum expenditure of $5,000, grant funded, be approved.

 

          That the contract between Geneva City School District and The Children's Institute, a grant evaluation agency for the 21st Century program, effective November 14, 2006 through August 31, 2007, for a total cost of $14,649.60, grant funded be approved

 

          That the contract between Geneva City School District and Eric Miller, Intern with Buildings & Grounds, effective June 27, 2007 through August 15, 2007, at a rate of $15.00 per hour, not to exceed $5,000, General fund, be approved.

 

That the contract between Geneva City School District and Jeffrey Moore, Intern with Buildings & Grounds, effective June 27, 2007 through August 15, 2007, at a rate of $15.00 per hour, not to exceed $5,000, General fund, be approved.

 

That the execution of contract for Health and Wellness services with Honeoye Central School District for children residing in above school district and attending nonpublic school in the Geneva City School District beginning July 1, 2006 and ending June 30, 2007, be approved.

 

That the budget transfers in excess of $10,000 (per attached) be

acknowledged.

         

          That the GMS General Organization Monthly Statement of Extracurricular Funds for April 2007 be accepted.

 

          That the GHS General Organization Monthly Statement of Extracurricular Funds for April and May 2007 be accepted.

Moved by Mr. Scherer, seconded by Mr. Weiskittel that the employment contract resolution between Paul S. Darnall and the Board of Education, dated July 9, 2007, and authorizes and directs the President of the Board to execute said agreement be approved.

 

That the employment contract resolution between Lauren Poehlman and the Board of Education, dated July 9, 2007, and authorizes and directs the President of the Board to execute said agreement be approved.

 

That the following instructional resignation be accepted:

1.     Jerryvonne Nyrop, Geneva Middle School, Home & Careers Teacher, effective June 30, 2007, due to moving out of the area.

2.      

That the following instructional appointment be approved:

1.     Colleen Dembs, to a three-year probationary appointment in the tenure area of Elementary, assigned to North Street School, 10 months, effective September 1, 2007 through August 31, 2010, salary step 2 of the GTA Agreement, due to increase in elementary student enrollment.

 

That the following administrative appointment be approved:

1.     Randall Grenier, Health Coordinator, assigned district

     wide, effective September 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008.

     at a stipend of $1,000, grant funded.

 

That the following instructional voluntary transfers be approved:

1.     Jennifer Good, Grade 4 Teacher, North Street School, to

     AIS Reading Teacher, North Street School, effective

     September 1, 2007, per request to transfer

2.     Shayne Feinberg, Special Education Teacher, North Street School, to Special Education Teacher, Geneva Middle School, effective September 1, 2007, per request to transfer

 

That the following instructional increase of hours be approved:

1.     Diann Warner, from .8 FTE School Psychologist, West

     Street School, to 1.0 FTE, School Psychologist, West Street

     School, effective September 1, 2007, due to an increase in

     State requirements for response to intervention, IDEA

     grant.

 

That the following Geneva High summer school instructional

appointments, effective July 9, 2007 through August 16, 2007, compensation at $25.00 per hour be approved:

     High School, 10 months, effective September 1, 2007

     through August 31, 2010, at salary Line G, Step * of the

     CSEA Agreement.  This is due to a change in services for

     students with disabilities, IDEA grant funded.

2.     Mary Osterhout, to a three-year probationary appointment in the tenure area of Teaching Assistant, assigned to Geneva High School, 10 months, effective September 1, 2007 through August 31, 2010, at salary Line G, Step 3 of the CSEA Agreement.  This is due to a change in services for students with disabilities, IDEA grant funded.

 

3.     Meghan Finnerty, to a three-year probationary appointment in the tenure area of Teaching Assistant, assigned to North Street School, 10 months, effective September 1, 2007 through August 31, 2010, at salary Line G, Step 5 of the CSEA Agreement. This is due to a change in services for students with disabilities, IDEA grant funded.

 

That the Board of Education accept, with genuine regret, the retirement requests of:

1.     Donna Rhinevault, Teacher Aide, North Street School, 7.00 hours per day, 10 months, effective July 31, 2007, after 14 years and 5 months of service

2.     Beryl Teague, Registered Professional Nurse, St. Francis/St. Stephens, 3.50 hours per day, 10 months, effective July 1, 2007, after 13 years and 11 months of service

     The Board and administrators extend to Donna Rhinevault and Beryl Teague their deep appreciation for the years of faithful service rendered to this District and their best wishes for good health and happiness throughout their retirement years.  The Board offers the following resolution:

      WHEREAS, Donna Rhinevault and Beryl Teague have served the children of the Geneva City Schools with distinction for many years, and discharged their duties in an outstanding and highly professional manner, giving unselfishly of their time and efforts.

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Geneva City School District, accepts with deep regret the retirement requests of Donna Rhinevault and Beryl Teague and records in the minutes of this meeting this expression of the Board’s deep appreciation of their devoted service, as well as its sensitivity to the loss from the staff of these trusted and valued employees,

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the clerk of the board be and hereby instructed to transmit to Donna Rhinevault and Beryl Teague a copy of this expression of the Board’s gratitude.

 

          That the following support staff resignations be accepted:

1.     Jamie Felber, Teacher Aide, High School, 7.00 hours per day, 10 months, effective June 22, 2007, due to accepting another position in the district.

2.     Meghan Finnerty, Teacher Aide, North Street School, 7.00 hours per day, 10 months, effective June 22, 2007, due to accepting another position in the district.
